Lesson 66

Students met with their lit circle groups, and worked through their first question set.

***NB - A few students were not prepared to today's discussion groups - this lets the group discussion down, but also impacts the learning of those who were not prepared. Staying on top of the reading is critical to this unit.

****NB - Please stick to the outlined schedule, so that conversations can stay on track (without spoilers or statements of: "Well, if you'd read A/B/C/D, you'd know..."

Students should add to their answers (as needed) prior to tomorrow's class - they will be permitted to have their question sheets with them during their first timed write tomorrow. At the end of tomorrow's class, they will hand in their question sets, and put their writing in their folders.

On Monday, we will discuss the core assignments for the unit in greater depth, but lit circle groups may want to set up Teams chats, so that they can connect over the weekend about research topics/inquiry questions etc.

Lesson 65

Students got a formal introduction to their annotated bibliography work, as well as citation, and we will continue that work on Monday.

HMWRK - ensure you have the first section of reading complete for tomorrow, so that you are able to fully discuss the text with your group/work through the questions coming your way!

Lesson 62

 Students received their novels today!

Tomorrow is a writing/reading day - If your essay needs finishing, come to tutorial to get  it out of the way.

**Some students have signed up for a free trial of Audible, to get access to their texts as audio books. Some have found that their books are available to them via Spotify - Many will just read them :)

Lesson 61

Today's block was focused on selecting novels for lit circles.

Students engaged with 5 texts, ranked their preferences, and will receive their texts tomorrow.

***Those still writing were welcomed to work in a quiet space over today's lunch hour, and have Thursday/Friday tutorials to continue - some will work during Friday's block as well (many missed for AP exams etc.)

Lesson 59

We briefly discussed the remaining assignments/timeline through June.

Students received the rubric for their literary essay, and began writing.

Students will work on their writing today, and during tomorrow's class. Should they need more time, Tuesday/Thursday/Friday tutorial times are also available to them (a few students recognized they needed more planning time, and have already been to multiple tutorials).

By the end of this week, students will have a calendar to chart their way through the end of the semester, and will have chosen the text they would like to work with over the course of the final few weeks.

Lesson 84

Anyone who handed in all work on time has now received all of those pieces of work. Students ate Timbits, and enjoyed a new piece of media ...
